Logistics Accountant
Permanent employee, part-time to full-time in Johnstown, Colorado
Hybrid/onsite, with schedule flexibility based on business needs
Schedule: Approximately 20–40 hours per week
Role Overview
The Logistics Accountant supports the accounting and logistics administration needed to keep customer orders, shipments, invoices, vendor transactions, and supporting records accurate and well organized. This role reports directly to the US Operations Manager and works closely with the Global CFO and external accounting partners to support reliable transaction processing, documentation, and reporting.
This role is a strong fit for someone early in their accounting career who wants hands-on experience in a growing aerospace company. The position provides exposure to accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory-related transactions, logistics documentation, ERP systems, and month-end accounting processes while working with internal teams and external accounting professionals.
Our business uses an ERP system to manage orders, invoices, inventory movements, and related records. Prior ERP experience is helpful, but not required. Our current ERP system is Odoo, and training will be provided.
Transaction Processing & ERP Recordkeeping (approx. 30%)
Process and maintain customer order records, invoices, payment updates, and shipment documentation within the company ERP system.
Ensure customer orders, shipment records, invoice details, and payment information are entered accurately and kept current.
Maintain organized supporting documentation for customer orders, vendor bills, shipping records, and transaction activity.
Support accurate recordkeeping for inventory movements and logistics-related transactions.
Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable & Invoice Support (approx. 25%)
Support accounts receivable activities, including customer invoicing, payment tracking, and follow-up on outstanding items.
Support accounts payable activities, including vendor bill matching, documentation review, and preparation of information needed for payment processing.
Reconcile customer orders, vendor bills, shipment records, and related financial transactions.
Help ensure invoice and payment records are complete, accurate, and available for internal review and external accounting support.
Logistics Cost & Documentation Support (approx. 20%)
Track and document shipping costs, freight charges, taxes, tariffs, and other logistics-related expenses.
Maintain documentation related to shipments, customer returns, delivery confirmations, and logistics cost records.
Support coordination between logistics activity and accounting records to help ensure transactions are properly documented.
Prepare routine reports related to order status, outstanding balances, shipment activity, and logistics costs.
Month-End Reporting & External Accountant Coordination (approx. 15%)
Assist with month-end and year-end accounting activities by preparing reconciliations, reports, and supporting documentation.
Coordinate with external accountants and consultants by providing documentation, reports, and responses to accounting-related questions.
Support the Global CFO and external accounting partners with transaction details, reporting support, and record review as needed.
Maintain accurate records to support financial reporting, audit readiness, and internal review.
Process & Administrative Support (approx. 10%)
Identify opportunities to improve recordkeeping accuracy, documentation quality, and administrative workflows.
Support the US Operations Manager with recurring accounting, logistics documentation, and reporting activities.
Communicate clearly with internal teams, external accountants, and business partners to keep transaction-related work moving forward.
Provide administrative support for accounting and logistics activities as business needs evolve.
Candidate Background
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
Recent graduates, current students nearing degree completion, and candidates with 0–2 years of relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
Internship, bookkeeping, administrative accounting, ERP, or logistics-related experience is a plus.
Skills & Competencies
Understanding of basic accounting principles, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and account reconciliation.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
Comfortable learning new software systems and business processes.
Experience with ERP systems, accounting software, or bookkeeping platforms is helpful but not required.
Strong Excel and spreadsheet skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Highly organized and capable of managing recurring deadlines and priorities.
Able to work independently while collaborating with a small team.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $45,000 - 70,000 per year (based on experience and qualification)
